The turbulence in the political situation in the past has brought the directionless governance. Nearly, after two decades the Democratic Republic of Nepal has announced the date for the selection of the rightful candidate to fulfil the void in the local governing bodies. On May 14, the local elections are going to be held and the public are preparing for it with glee and optimism like any national festival. However, all the political parties do not esteem it unanimously.
While entire nation is under the influence of wind of election, the Bibeksheel Nepali Dal could not remain untouched. The Bibeksheel Nepali Dal who claim themselves on being neutal among leftist and rightist and support the issue based politics have different views from mainstream politics. It wants to introduce the change through the participation of youths of the country. The Bibeksheel Nepali Dal encourages the youth leadership and intends to use the creativity of the youth in nation building.
Most recently, the Dal has appointed its candidate for the local election to run for the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan city. The age of this young candidate has brought sensation in the media. Ranju Darshana, 21, will be contesting for the Mayor who is a student of development studies and had endorsed the ideas and views of the party three years ago. She proved her potential during the earthquake relief and rescue program as well as in the support movement for Dr. Govinda K.C. Claiming to be the youngest among the candidates to run for the position, she envisions to reinstate the natural beauty in Kathmandu city and promote the city as “city of entrepreneurs and city of diversity.”
Despite of her raw age, her strong determination looks more bold and her thoughts radiates the energy and self-confidence. She is strong believer in the youth of the nation. Only time can make results visible, however, it is yet to witness how the public will support her to veer the nation in the right direction and create a history.
