Located at the top of the Shivapuri National Park. Baghdwar is an important area as it is where much of Kathmandu’s water starts from, including the Bagmati River. You can trek to the top or take two-wheeler as per you convenience. While on the way you should visit Budhanilkantha, Nagi Gomba (quiet nunnery half-way up Shivapuri) and Dadha Gau (a little above entry gate near heli-pad) for local taste and refreshment.
Khokana is a Newar village lying 8 km south of the Ring Road that encircles the two cities of Kathmandu and Patan. It is a simple place, but is filled with life, history and culture. If you’re a fan of newari cuisine and travelling around, this is the best destination for a short day out.
Panauti is one of the oldest town in Nepal which is said to be build above a single stone around two rivers Rosi and Punyamati. It feels as if it has been left exactly the way the founders had built the town. You can easily reach Panauti, which is about 32km from Kathmandu. Among all, the most interesting ones are the 14th century Indreshwar Mahadev temple and Brahamayani temples are very good examples of historical Newari architect.
SISNERI (Natural Swimming Pool)
One of the most trending destinations to visit by youth nowadays is Sisneri. About 38km in distance from valley it is located in a peaceful location with greenery all around the natural pool with fresh flowing water. And words cannot explain the beauty and thrill when you experience by yourself.
Located only about 15km away from Kathmandu. Sundarijal is rich in natural resources with Bagmati river flowing through sundarijal. The place was named after the Hindu goddess, Sundarimai. Sundarijal is famous for its greenery, waterfalls & rivers, local dishes and a museum dedicated to B.P. Koirala. It is also one of the tourist hub for national and international tourists.
Also known as “Sano Illam” for its Tea Farms. Bhotechour is about 40km away from Kathmandu valley located at Sindupalchok district. It is a perfect destination for a day trip with family or friends enjoying beautiful nature and view. Tea Garden is not huge but big enough to give you the feel of being in a Tea garden. The lush greenery and the fresh cold air helped us forget our daily hectic schedule.
About 58km in distance from Kathmandu. Dolalghat is a beautiful place with quiet and peaceful river flowing between two peaks. Dolalghat also offers you majestic view of snowcapped mountains, beaches and warm hospitality by local people. It is quite popular for picnic and shooting spot.
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Changu Narayan Temple is located 22km from kathmandu and 6km from Bhaktapur. It offers magnificent views of the surrounding countryside as well as the Himalaya to the north. It is also listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site. With authentic newari cuisine being offered it is one of the best destination for refreshment.
Nagarkot, is about 2,175meter above sea level, and is the most popular destination which is only 30km south of Kathmandu valley. It is popular for Mountain View in comfortable and quite surrounding and Sunrise & Sunset. Though the snow covered mountain peaks are not visible during the rainy season the view is still considered by some to be simply beautiful. One famous lookout point in Nagarkot is the Lookout Tower that is reached by climbing up about 100 steps.
One and half hours (29 km) drive from Kathmandu along the beautiful mountain highway on the Trishuli road is scenically rewarding with green forest and mountain terraced cultivation. In recent years, this place has also grown various adventures sport such as nature trails, bike riding, rock climbing, trekking, hiking and fishing etc. One of the popular products found in kakani is strawberry wine which are homemade, fresh fish dishes and many more.
